A unique architectural style seen all around Budapest is known as Hungarian Art Nouveau (Hungarian Secession), which is a special local variation of the international Secession style reaching Hungary at the turn of the century. Some architects used traditional Hungarian folk motives mixed with other Secessionist and oriental decorative elements in city buildings, thus creating an architectural style that is modern and uniquely Hungarian at the same time. Ceramic tiles featuring Hungarian folk motives decorate building façades and similar ornaments highlight main inner walls. Great examples of Hungarian Art Nouveau buildings in Budapest we visit: Museum of Applied Arts, Academy of Music, Villas on City Park Avenue and Ajtósi Dürer Avenue, Geological Institute and other beautiful buildings.
